Legal Basis for Processing
In accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), and applicable national implementations, we rely on your consent for non-essential cookies and on legitimate interest for strictly necessary cookies. You can withdraw your consent at any time by adjusting your browser settings or contacting us directly. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent as they are essential for the website to function properly.
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the operation of our website. They enable core functionality such as user authentication, session management, security features (CSRF protection), locale and timezone preferences, and cookie consent state persistence. Without these cookies, the website cannot function properly. These cookies do not collect any personally identifiable information for marketing purposes and are exempt from consent requirements under EU law.
Analytics & Performance Cookies
We use analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with our website, which pages are visited most, and how we can improve performance. Specifically, we use: (a) Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC) — collects anonymised usage data including page views, session duration, bounce rate, geographic location (country/city level), device type, and referral sources. Data may be transferred to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. (b) Umami Analytics — a privacy-focused, open-source analytics platform we self-host. Umami does not use cookies by default and does not collect personally identifiable information. All data is aggregated and anonymised. (c) Microsoft Clarity (provided by Microsoft Corporation) — captures anonymised session replays and heatmaps to help us understand user interaction patterns, including clicks, scrolls, and navigation behaviour. Clarity does not collect passwords, payment details, or other sensitive form inputs. Data processing is governed by Microsoft's Data Processing Agreement.
Push Notification Cookies
We use OneSignal (provided by OneSignal Inc.) to deliver optional push notifications about match updates, prediction results, and platform news. OneSignal may set cookies or use local storage to store your notification subscription preferences, a unique device identifier (Player ID), and session data to manage notification delivery. You can opt out of push notifications at any time through your browser settings or by unsubscribing within the notification prompt. OneSignal's data processing complies with GDPR and is governed by their Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.
Functional & Preference Cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation on our platform. They remember your preferences such as selected language/locale, timezone and GMT offset for match schedules, odds display format (decimal, fractional, or American), dark/light mode preference, and recently viewed matches or leagues. These cookies are set either by us or by third-party providers whose services we have integrated. If you disable these cookies, some or all of these personalisation features may not function correctly.
Third-Party Cookies
Our website may contain links to third-party services (e.g., bookmaker websites, social media platforms) that set their own cookies independently of Hintscope. We have no control over these cookies and are not responsible for their data collection practices. We recommend reviewing the cookie and privacy policies of any third-party service you interact with through our platform. Specifically, bookmaker affiliate links may set tracking cookies to attribute referrals; these are governed by the respective bookmaker's privacy policy.
Data Retention & Storage
Cookie retention periods vary by type: session cookies are deleted when you close your browser; persistent analytics cookies are retained for up to 24 months; authentication cookies expire after 30 days of inactivity; preference cookies persist until you clear them or they reach their maximum age (typically 12 months). We periodically review and purge data that is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, in compliance with the GDPR data minimisation principle.
Your Rights Under GDPR
As a data subject under the GDPR, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; rectify inaccurate or incomplete data; erase your data ("right to be forgotten"); restrict processing in certain circumstances; data portability (receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format); object to processing based on legitimate interest; and withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal. To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Data Protection team at [email protected].
International Data Transfers
Some of our third-party service providers (Google Analytics, OneSignal, Microsoft Clarity) may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where such transfers occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, adequacy decisions where available, and supplementary technical and organisational measures to protect your data in transit and at rest.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our business practices. Material changes will be communicated through a prominent notice on our website. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
